Two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver David Givens has reached an agreement on a five-year, $24 million...
The Titans sent plenty of people to Austin, Texas, for Vince Young's pro day workout and then got the Texas quarterback to themselves for an evening and a day after that. Indications were that if they went to Texas with concerns about Young, he answered them and ensured the team has complicated choices to make in terms of ranking him along with Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler as the draft draws near. After Young ran a 40-yard dash clocked at between 4.58 and 4.
David Givens, one of Tom Brady's primary targets on two of New England's Super Bowl winners, signed a five-year, $24 million deal with the Tennessee Titans. "My opportunities here to flourish were a little bit better," Givens said Tuesday. Givens caught 59 passes for 738 yards and two touchdowns last year for New England.

Tennessee lost center Justin Hartwig when he chose an equal offer from Carolina, believing the Panthers have a brighter future than the Titans after a 4-12 season. Kevin Mawae doesn't share Hartwig's opinion. The 12-year veteran visited Miami and New England before Titans coach Jeff Fisher wooed him by phone.

The Tennessee Titans agreed to a six-year contract with free-agent safety Chris Hope on Wednesday. Hope started the last 32 regular-season games for Pittsburgh, including every game in the team's run to the Super Bowl. He had a career-high three interceptions last season. "Pittsburgh was a great place," he said at a news conference.

With center Justin Hartwig gone and replaced by Kevin Mawae, the Titans' remaining free agents were not any sort of priority. The signing of Chris Hope meant there was no role for safety Tank Williams, who signed a one-year deal with Minnesota. Linebacker Rocky Boiman, who was a special teamer and depth player, signed a three-year deal with Dallas. CB Tony Beckham won't be re-signed.
Tennessee Titans Strategy and Personnel
Steve McNair might feel comfortable in Tennessee, but the Titans just might select a quarterback with their top draft choice.
Titans could use first-round pick on a QB
--While center Kevin Mawae got to know the Titans' coaching staff at a Pro Bowl not long ago, he reached an accord on a free-agent contract with the team without having visited. He was at the NFL Players Association meetings in Hawaii when the deal was struck.
